About Meera

Meera is currently a post doctoral research in health systems, translating her work in queer mental health to health care. She is also a consultant, narrative therapist and clinical supervisor based in Vancouver, she also works in Toronto and Berlin.

Meera spent 15 years in the non profit sector in Toronto, in front line, program planning and development in the anti violence sector, homelessness and housing and the HIV/AIDS sector. After completion of her Master of Social Work degree she moved into health care, hospitals and palliative care. For the last ten years Meera has worked as a narrative therapist, clinical supervisor and university instructor.

Meera teaches in the Master of Counselling program as Associate Faculty at City University of Seattle, Vancouver Island campus. Her previous teaching experience was in the schools of social work at Toronto Metropolitan University and University of British Columbia.

Meera’s doctoral research focused on the use of queer of colour cultural knowledge and scholarship can better shape and inform how these identities are conceptualized in professional practice.

Her post doctoral research questions and examines the limitations of current frameworks of affirming care and therapy. Meera's work can transform the education and professional practice in counselling and social work.
